This fully washed coffee comes to us from the Gachatha washing cooperative, located in the lush coffee-growing region of Nyeri.
Kenya Gachatha AA is a washed coffee from various smallholder farmers across Nyeri. Coffee cherries from these farmers are brought to the wet mill at The Gachatha Farmers Cooperative Society, where they are first sorted for quality and then de-pulped, washed, and dried.
Coffees from the Nyeri region of Kenya tend to be fan favorites due in large part to their brightness and crisp acidity. Since coffees grown in this region are grown at higher elevations along the slopes of the Aberdare Mountains, the coffee cherries mature more slowly than at low altitudes, providing them with more nutrients and allowing them more time to develop their flavors. This longer growth period endows the beans with complex yet familiar flavor profiles and allows both seasoned coffee lovers and newcomers to find something endearing in each cup.
Expect a cup with notes of jasmine, grapefruit, and sweet peach accompanied by a medium body and mild, tangerine acidity.
